If you are looking for a relatively affordable commuter electric bicycle that looks and feels more like an ordinary bicycle than a huge electric bicycle, Turboant's Ranger R1 may be for you. Like any electric bicycle, R1 has several advantages and some limitations. This is our own thoughts after testing.

The Ranger R1 is not technically a striding bike, but its frame is lower than most electric bikes. It comfortably fits most riders from 5'3" to 6'4". I am 5 feet 3 inches tall and have no problems swinging my legs on the frame. 

You can quickly and easily adjust the seat to your preferred height. The seat height range of this Turboant electric bike is between 28.6 and 36.5 inches. The standing height of 29.1 inches allows most riders to clean the upper tube comfortably, which is especially useful if your commute requires frequent stops.

In the hierarchy of Turboant electric bicycles, the overall size of Thunder T1 and Nebula N1 fat tire electric bicycles is slightly larger, and the large tires can pass through difficult obstacles. Then there is the compact foldable Swift S1, which is perfect for commuters who need a bicycle that is easy to carry on public transportation or climb the stairs of walking buildings. Ranger R1 will not fold, nor is it as easy to carry as Swift S1. However, it has larger tires for better handling, especially on rough terrain.

With three available riding modes, you can choose between low, medium and high assist. The highest level is very powerful, and you will feel all the 500 watts of the bike driving you forward. The Shimano seven-speed derailleur gives you the flexibility to choose the most suitable gear for each mode.

I noticed a slight delay before the power started, and the bicycle quickly accelerated to about 20 miles per hour. Unless you ride up steeper slopes or pass, you may find that medium assist is a more comfortable option.

If you are worried about accidentally starting the throttle, an easy-to-operate throttle safety button will give you peace of mind. When you are cruising in town, you can temporarily lock the throttle to increase safety.

One feature that is obviously missing is the large display. However, you can still see the current mode and power indicator. Data such as speed and travel distance are not available. However, the smaller screen takes up less space and is very practical for urban riders.

Depending on the riding mode and terrain, this battery can cruise up to 60 miles per charge. The rolling hillside consumes more power, but the large-capacity battery should be enough to meet the daily riding needs of most commuters and urban cyclists.
